Nomination Process
Honorary Awards are prestigious honours, intended to recognise substantial achievements or contributions by individuals.
Executive Managers are invited to nominate candidates for the following Honorary Awards:
Honorary Doctorates
Curtin University Fellow
The title of Emeritus Professor
The title of John Curtin Distinguished Emeritus Professor
The title of John Curtin Distinguished Professor
The title of John Curtin Distinguished Visiting Professor
Council Members and Curtin staff are invited to make nominations for Honorary Doctorates and Curtin University Fellows. Staff are required to submit nominations through the Executive Manager to whom they report.
Nominations for Honorary Doctorates and Curtin University Fellows must at all stages be treated confidentially. A nominee must not be advised of or consulted about their nomination at any stage.
To preserve their prestige, an Honorary Award will only be made to persons of appropriate standing. There is no expectation or requirement on Council to make an award in any category in any year. Council follows a rigorous selection process, using specified criteria and the application of due diligence and risk assessment processes.
Nominations are submitted to the Secretariat for consideration by the Honorary Awards and Appointments Committee (HAAC). Nominations supported by HAAC are then submitted to the Executive Committee for consideration. The Executive Committee will review the nominations and present its recommendations to Council.
Please refer to the Honorary Awards Policy and related Procedures.
